Product Managers are the builders in Amazon. They own developing new features, tools, processes, and businesses for our customers, and scaling them to serve hundreds of millions of customers. PMs are focused on understanding the needs (stated or unstated) of customers, sellers, and our business and coming up with creative solutions to serve these needs. Think of any feature on Amazon that you like e.g. ‘Secured Delivery’, ‘Prime’, 'Easy Returns' - all these were built by product managers.
Amazon’s vision is to be ‘earth’s most customer centric company’ and being able to return products is an important trust-builder. However, it is also a costly process to execute, and with the added challenge of bad actors abusing the returns and rejects policies, it becomes an area of high judgment decisions and careful experimentations.
Key job responsibilities
- The PM will have end to end ownership of driving financial sustainability of returns by optimizing processes to reduce cost of good returns and launching initiatives, targeted and universal, to reduce associated abuse and misuse of return and rejects policies.
- The work will include identifying such opportunities, defining and designing solutions (and their architecture), getting leadership buy-in, prioritization of resources, delivering the project in partnership with tech teams and measuring impact.
- This role requires working closely with stakeholders from IN/WW teams such as Operations, Machine Learning, Last Mile, etc. to innovate and deliver forward looking initiatives which while making returns increasingly cost-effective, also improves the returns CX of good customers.
- Experience as a product manager or owner
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
- Experience in working with operations and/or machine learning related products
- Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of supply chain and machine learning
